Will & POA Drafting Fees
We believe estate planning should be straightforward — including the fees. Our flat-rate packages make it easy to understand what’s included and what to expect. Each package includes consultation, legal advice, document drafting, revisions, and guidance right through to the signing appointment. You get comprehensive service and clear communication every step of the way.
Standard Packages
We offer the following flat fee for a will and powers of attorney for property and personal care:
Individual Plan: $800 + HST
Couple Plan: $1,250 + HST
Additional Planning Options
My flat-rate Will and Powers of Attorney packages are designed for estates of standard complexity. In some circumstances, additional planning or drafting may be required. Where this applies, an additional fee will be charged.
These situations are typically addressed with a flat additional fee. In more complex or unusual cases, an hourly rate may be more appropriate. If additional fees become applicable, I will discuss the fee structure with you as soon as the scope of work is clear.
Additional fees may apply where your planning includes, for example:
Appointing a trust company as estate trustee and/or attorney for property
Creating a Henson trust, spousal trust, real estate trust, or other testamentary trust
Adding a secondary will for private company shares, certain real estate, or other specialized assets
Urgent or expedited drafting where documents are required on short notice
Drafting a standalone Life Insurance Declaration
You’ll pay 75% of your fee when draft documents are delivered, and the balance when everything is signed.
Updating your Plan
Life changes — and your estate plan should change with it. If we’ve prepared your will and powers of attorney in the past, we’re happy to assist when it’s time to make updates. Whether your family circumstances, assets, or wishes have changed, we’ll ensure your documents continue to reflect your current intentions.
Because the scope of changes can vary, fees for updates depend on the nature and extent of the revisions required. If you’re considering an update, please reach out for a free consultation to discuss what needs to be changed. After that call, we’ll provide a quote tailored to your situation. Once you decide to proceed, we’ll complete a full review of your personal and financial circumstances to ensure everything remains accurate and up to date.
